(Trade In, Trade Up & Used/Reburbished Machines)

Issues resulting from improper grinder calibration are the most common, especially with oily coffee, affecting first the grinder and the brew cycle. In some cases, improper calibration with oily coffee can also cause secondary stressed conditions. Fixing the secondary stressed component ONLY without the grinder/brew system service will NOT resolve the issue as the pasted oily coffee is what caused the brewing problems and in turn, the secondary issues.

There are a number of issues that can result when using oily coffee, possibly resulting in various component failures. The first issue is the grinder spinning or clogged (from pasted coffee) resulting in limited flow, bitter/ransid coffee, or no grounds dispensed.) The brew group filter can get clogged and its mobility impaired. Typically, servicing the grinder/ brew system will correct the issue as long as the grinder is recalibrated to oily coffee and the brew group is kept clean and lubricated. However, secondary issues can result as well if the machine has been continuously allowed to function under stressed conditions (with the grinder not calibrated properly to the type of coffee being used.) Typical secondary failures can include: brew group failure or bad brew group from continued stress due to clogged filter, limited mobility, torn oring, clogged valve causing brew valve leaks and clogged/leaking dispensing, cracked dispensing valve/leaks, stressed gear motor or bad gear motor (not able to complete cycle), stressed coil valve or bad coil valve (failing to rinse and/or internal valve leaks), and pump failure (no flow) - to name a few. In the newer models, when the stressed component is the coil valve, the startup rinse will fail.

CoffeeTico Services™ provides FREE service estimates and does NOT service machines until customers have given us the specific authorization to repair. If the issues are related to the use of oily coffee pasting, unless there is leakage or no flow, some secondary stressed components can only be confirmed damaged during repair/service. These include but not limited to: grinder base worn due to spinning, dispensing chute broken, bad grinder motor bad, bad brew group (due to dispensing head malfunctioning- no flow/leak, or mobility restrained), and bad dispensing valve. Again CoffeeTico Services™ will not continue with additional service if customer does not authorize repair/replacement. Customers will only pay for working machines. If the machine is opted to not be fixed, we ask that customers pick up machines within 30 days or we can recycle for customers.

For the newer machines, if oily coffee was used and the coil valve is failing, CoffeeTico Services™ provides customers with 2 (two) options.
1. The first option, the cheapest, is to fix the pasting in the grinder (grinder/brew system service) and to leave the stressed component as is; however, CoffeeTico Services™ specific recommendations MUST be followed in order to avoid secondary component failures (such as the stressed component to completely fail.) At startup, the first flush rinsing HAS to be bypassed, or stopped. Again, not following CoffeeTico Services™ recommedations, will result in these stressed components to completely fail, needing this part to be replaced.
2. The second option is to service the grinder/brew system AND to replace the stressed component. Replacing the stressed component will allow the machine to function as intended without any error messages or malfunctions.

CoffeeTico Services™ will spend time with each customer at pickup to provide maintenance and instructions on proper grinder calibration, proper brew group maintenance when using oily coffee, and proper doser settings. For more information on these calibration issues, call us at our main number (301) 424-3818 OR cell/text at 240-477-0413 OR email us at:
